Abe & Jessie Falk, Owners

Abe & Jessie Falk are enjoying retirement! Abe & Jessie have been actively involved in the family company for many many years. They had decided to retire a few years ago and have been enjoying travelling all over the world. They spend many months of the year travelling North America in their 5th Wheel, and have been to such countries as India and Russia! They make many of their journey's with their good friends, and meet many more good friends along the way. Even though they are retired, they are still actively involved in the company when they are home. Altough they are enjoying travelling, they look forward to coming home to fellowship with their large family and church.

Carol Dick, Owner/Human Resources

I have been involved in the family business for most of my adult life...from the early years of grain farming in Dawson Creek, to growing up on a chicken farm in Abbotsford - farming has always been an important part of my life. When entering the "adult" workforce, I worked as a receptionist at the family business, all the while learning accounting through the various accountants and bookkeepers that we employed. 10 years ago, I took over the bookkeeping at the head office in Abbotsford. As of 3 years ago, I moved over to the farm office in Chilliwack where I am currently in the position of Human Resources.

All the different positions and involvements in the company have proven to be great learning experiences and I have enjoyed each challenge that comes my way. We are never too old to learn!

My husband, Paul, and I have 2 children - both of whom work for Fraser Valley Duck & Goose. Our daughter, Jessica, works in the hatchery and our son, Jordan, works with our breeder flocks at our Abbotsford farm. Jordan and 3 of his friends have a band - "Hasting" - watch for them as they "climb the charts"! They just released their 3rd CD which is available at www.hastingband.com.

Paul and I just celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary - we are looking forward to what the next 22 have to offer!

I have taken up racing - 1/4 mile. Paul and I just purchased our ownlittle "Hot Tamale", which is a 55 VW Beetle. My personal best so far is 14.48 seconds, reaching the speed of 92.25 mph. I am part of a racing team with Abby Country Motors. If you are interested in coming to watch, we race at Ashcroft, Mission and Seattle. We are a team of VW's which makes for fun and exciting viewing!

When I have time, I also enjoy yard work. But, working full-time makes that a challenge, and from time to time, we have to bring in help to keep up the gardens.

Shawna Bergen, Hatchery Manager

Shawna has been a dedicated part of our Fraser Valley Duck & Goose team for 16 years! She has a son, and 2 cats. Shawna loves fixing and rebuilding computers and anything to do with technology. She is a full time Vancouver Canucks fan, even when they are losing. Shawna is left handed...and you know what they say about left handed people...they use more of their brain area. They also say that they tend to have more accidents because most things are built for right handed people. Shawna agrees with the first part, and we can attest that she is not accident prone. In fact, Shawna claims she is ambidexterous! Shawna's dedication and smiley personality make her an awesome part of our staff.
