Fraser Valley Duck and Goose started operations in the early 1970’s when Peter Zilian had a vision to produce a better tasting duck at a more competitive price. The whole operation started off in a little barn in the Yarrow, B.C. area that still stands to this day. This Long Island strain of Pekin duck became extremely popular in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver area. As the demand for fresh duck grew, so did Fraser Valley Duck and Goose.
In 1998, Peter Zilian decided to retire, and the farm was sold to a family owned business called the Twin Maple Group of Companies. The new leadership, headed up by Abe and Jessie Falk, continued on in the tradition of producing the best quality duck. The Falk family's demand for perfection was exactly what the farm needed. From 1998 to the present, the farm has expanded, now producing close to one million ducks annually, and have added commercial production of geese as well. A growing demand for other duck products is also being met, with the production of balut.
Now with three generations of the Falk family involved, we are intent on producing the best quality, best tasting, and freshest duck in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. |
